Book Woman Scores a Win!!!

I just got the news that a logo design I did for a group in Oklahoma was a rousing success! I had given them three options, but (as always) had a favorite in the mix. I didn't tell anyone, for fear of skewing their voting process.

Winner Winner Woo Hoo!!

(Looks a little like a beachball with those colors, maybe, but I love it)
Green for Green Country, Red for Oklahoma red dirt, #2 Pencil Yellow, and Pocket Folder Blue

Having a lifelong love affair with books, I will always have a soft spot for libraries and the people who run them, especially in schools, where they are in a position to change a child's life, or maybe just shift a point of view with one well-timed book suggestion.

Happy Holiday Weekend!

Having a friend in the business

One of my favorite clients is also a friend of mine who runs a restaurant here in town. I'd eat there for every meal if I could, because it's soooooo good!

She opened just last summer, but is always good and busy for lunch and her amazing weekend brunch. I'm happy to help boost local interest in her place, and possibly score one of her blueberry cream cheese muffins when I drop by (epic yum!!!)

Here's the front of her most recent menu.

What's on my mind...and in my kitchen.

It's just the beginning of the month, but I only make a big turkey once a year, and enjoy that meal and its build-up preparations enormously.  So, all that being said - I spare a moment for the bird.

That yummy yummy bird.

Sweet Baby Days

I love babies and their tiny little bean-toes. Most of my friends are past the new-baby age, so the chance to design announcements is a happy day.

Here's my latest addition.

A sampling of past work

A few pieces from my position at the bank. I go by MoolyBee on Flickr, in part to protect myself from spammers and rif-raf. Please click on Sets and then Past Work '05 - '09 to see them in the correct order.

The many faces of the swoosh (font)

In honor of almost-Spring, I've added a few new fonts to my collection. I love the flexibility of Open Type and type designers who develop their fonts with plenty of extra glyphs and alternate letterforms.

Three designs for showers and holiday parties, three completely different looks, save for the swooshy aspect in each.

The linen background in Sarah's invite is a macro shot of an antique tablecloth I received over Christmas, coupled with a 'borrowed' image from a 1914 Christmas postcard.  Fun to assemble!

Something Lovely and Warm

I love December and all the attendant festivities (and sweater-wearing), but I do miss the springtime.
The Women's Spring Retreat is an annual event, and I produced all the advertising collateral for them this year. Flyers, bookmarks, banners for the exterior of the building, and a cover for their program, seen here.

Hope you're enjoying your wintertime!
